Data Representation of Oscar Winners by Race

In the entire history of the Academy Awards, all but eight of the Best Actor and Best Actress winners have been white.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is under fire this year because all ten nominees for best actor and actress are white. This isn’t a new phenomenon. All of them were white last year, too, when we first presented this graphic. If Hollywood could engineer a best actor and best actress based on the attributes of all the previous winners, here’s what they would look like.
The Best Actress would be a white 30-something,5’4” to 5’7” tall, with brown hair and blue eyes, who’d never won an Oscar or been nominated before.
The Best Actor would be a white 40-something,
6′ or taller, with brown hair and brown eyes, who’d never won an Oscar or been nominated before.
